We recently got a copy of Wicked’s Pleasure Principle here at Gamelink and, like all the company’s titles over the past year, its muted boxcover and art were both simpler and more eye-catching than its competition.

So often does Wicked make solid and accessible porn, in fact, with each of its contract stars featured on alternating boxes, that it would be easy to characterize the company’s output as formulaic. Well, of course it is, but it’s the way Pleasure Principle and other Wicked star vehicles work within the formula that make them special.

Written and directed by David Stanley and starring Carmen Hart, Pleasure Principle is an exercise in preaching to the converted. “Sex is nothing to be ashamed of,” Hart tells the camera. “Sex is good.” “Guilt is bad.” “Sex is like cherry pie – dig in.”

While I can’t imagine a couple weeping and masturbating bitterly in separate rooms, each member with her or his own copy of the movie, only to have simultaneous epiphanies at Hart’s words, I do like the idea that guilt-free sexual experiences, as interpreted by Carmen Hart, Lexi Lamour, Daisy Marie, and Angie Savage in this movie, might seem more the norm than the exception in Middle America.

Carmen Hart is my favorite contract star of any company. She seems accessible and fun before anything else, and glamorous or dirty or frank secondarily. If I drank beer, I would like to have one with Carmen Hart. If she doesn’t drink beer, I would like to get her hooked on beer.
